Canning at the end of summer and is a little like gardening at the end of spring...exciting and full of planning and new ideas. Canning at the end of September is ...well... gardening at the end of August...boring and dirty. It gets a little tiring having my nails full of oregano and thyme and feeling like tomato seeds are sticking behind my ears somewhere(oh I'm sure I smell delicious!). But now, the heap of it is behind me with perhaps a few small batches of maybe cranberry sauce in the future and that's it for the year. Its more than last year but less than planned(and I always over plan-don't you?). But its fun to clean out the cold storage and line up the jars, stand back and give myself a little pat on the back. This Thanksgiving I was so thankful for a full cold storage, a full freezer and a houseful of happy , healthy souls!
I hope you've found your happy place too.
Looks awesome. Guess what? My salsa is almost gone. So good!
